Information about Traveller's Joy

Situated in Colesberg, halfway en-route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, the ideal halfway stop-over for the tired traveller, is our grand old, yet modernised guest house. The thick walls, high ceilings and beautifully restored wooden floors, ensure a cool and pleasant atmosphere. This house was built in 1840 and is part of our National heritage, changed on the inside for comfort and privacy, each with its own entrance.

The rooms are luxuriously furnished and spacious, all with en-suite bathrooms. Our beds are of high quality ranging from queen size to double and single beds in the family unit. Our family unit consists of two separate inter leading rooms, with a small lounge area and a mini fridge. Our sun room, an extra large room has a mini kitchen including a microwave and fridge, an extra single bed and a lounge area. Standard in all our rooms are, TV, tea / coffee, fridges, fully air-conditioned and electric blankets for the winter nights.

We offer safe off-street parking, behind high fencing and automated gates. We are within walking distance of all restaurants and shopping areas and an early evening stroll is enjoyed by our guests after a long and tiresome journey.

Our guest house is named after a plant growing wild in our area, by the name of Traveller's Joy (Clematis Brachiates), well known for its healing powers and the soothing of tired and sore muscles. This is exactly what we want our guests to experience, to have a pleasant stay and continue their journey well rested.
