DESCRIPTION:
 
The Homestead is a 31 bedroomed guest lodge with a "home away from home" atmosphere, situated in the quiet sanctuary of Geluksburg. This family guest lodge aims to give you value for your money at affordable prices. It is nestled at the bottom of the Middledale Pass and is a tranquil hide away enabling you to escape from the stress and hustle and bustle of everyday life. Staying at The Homestead allows you to experience, peace and solitude close to the Drakensberg Mountains.

The guest lodge has tastefully furnished en-suite double rooms, which vary between standard and deluxe rooms. There is also a honeymoon suite, with a four poster bed, double shower and spa bath. Buffet style meals with plenty of fresh produce, are served in a comfortable dining room. Good company and friendships are made in our cosy Scottish pub, "The Tam o' Shanter". There is a lapa braai (barbecue) area which is situated next to the swimming pool and the grounds are safe for the children to play in. The Homestead also has conference facilities, ideal for business conferences, functions and private weddings. The guest house is centrally located half way between Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Durban and it's the perfect venue to host a successful event between all three major towns. Groups of 120 people can be catered for and there is a gazebo which can be decorated with drapes, for the wedding ceremony which seats 100 people.

The establishment is conveniently situated for day trips to the Northern and Central Drakensberg. From here, you can experience and visit, the Amphitheatre and Royal Natal National Park, Cathedral Peak and Didima Valley, Champagne Castle Valley, Spionkop Game Reserve, the major Boerwar battle sites of Spionkop, Colenso and Ladysmith. The various activities are available in the surrounding area including arts and craft centres, Drakensberg boy's choir, golf courses, horse riding, fishing, hiking trails, 4x4 trails, bird watching and much more. DIRECTIONS:
 
From Johannesburg

Travel down the N3 as far as Harrismith, and then take the road to Bethlehem at the far side of Harrismith. Travel for approximately 4km and you will see a sign for R74 to Bergville, Olivershoek Pass and Qwaqwa.

Turn left to the Olivershoek Pass and Bergville. Travel a further 15 to 20km then turn left to Olivershoek Pass and Bergville. You will now be travelling on the R74, pass Sterkfontein Dam and go down Olivershoek Pass, with its panoramic view of the Drakensberg and Woodstock Dam. Just before Bergville, travel for approximately 50m and turn left onto the R616 to Ladysmith. You will travel for 2km to the top of the first hill and then turn left. You are now going to travel 26km.The first 6km are on tar and the next 20km are on gravel. When the road changes to tar again you are in the village of Geluksburg. Take the first left turn, and travel 400m and The Homestead is a large Elizabethan type building on your right.

From Durban

Travel up the N3 for 6km, drive past the Escourt Ultra City Petrol Stop. You will see a left turning to Bergville and Colenso, take this left turn and go to Bergville. You will now be travelling on the R74, drive straight through Winterton to Bergville. 50m after Bergville you will see a right turning to Ladysmith (R616).Turn right and travel for 2 km to the top of the first hill then turn left. Here you will see a sign for Geluksburg and The Homestead. You will travel over 6km of tar road and then the road becomes gravel for 20km. As you come into the village the road becomes tar again and then take the first turning to your left. Travel along this road for 200m and The Homestead is a large Elizabethan type building on your right.
