The Sunbird Lodge & Fynbos Reserve's first claim to fame is the warm welcome you will receive from your friendly hosts Stephen and Olwyn Smuts. The lodge is set in the mountain above the village of Napier which is small and historic but just large enough to have almost half a dozen restaurants to suit every palate.
The lodge itself has 2 fully equipped self catering units, best quality beds for a good night's sleep with real peaceful atmosphere. The establishment has astounding views over the distant village and agricultural lands which are situated just below the property. The lodge is surrounded by fynbos, the richest flora in the world in terms of species, full of protea, erica and restios.
Visitors are most welcome to bring mountain bikes or to take walks on the many tracks that lead away from the lodge. There is also the opportunity to swim in our mountain stream pools. If you can break away from the busy city life, Napier is a wonderful base from which to explore this amazing area called the Overberg (literally over the mountain from Cape Town - a mere 2 hours drive away). From Napier, take a day drive to Arniston, Hermanus, Greyton, Swellendam and even Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. Quite simply put, you will certainly have a great time here. It's excellent value for money and something really special. |
