Luxuriously situated in an area of Oudtshoorn known as Schoemanspoort, Stonebreaker Country Lodge must have one of the most envied settings in the Klein Karoo. The lodge has only 12 rooms and looks out, from a slight rise coated with indigenous fauna and flora of the region, straight over the poort and onto the opposite side of the mountains beyond. Stonebreaker Country Lodge is a friendly, exceptionally high hospitable 4 star lodge, offering smart comfortable rooms and a sundowner patio. It has easy access to a wide variety of activities and it is a perfect base situated in the heart of the Klein Karoo, for outdoor adventurists. A half an hour walk on the succulent trail, will work up your appetite for a hearty traditional farm style breakfast, either in the African dining room, on the thatched covered patio or on the open air deck. Lunch and dinner are also available on request, as well as a traditional braai (barbecue). Three course meals are served consisting of five types of meat including ostrich fillet, or a home cooked dinner with leg of Karoo super lamb, bobotie, kudu steak, ostrich neck. Other ostrich dishes are also available in the historic building of the cozy Old Mill Restaurant across the river. Adventurous activities in the area include horse riding, quad biking, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing and abseiling. All of these activities can be arranged for you at your request. |

| From Cape Town (5 hours) Driving from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn travel along the N2 highway or Route 62. On the N2 pass Mossel Bay and look out for the off-ramp on your left going to George called York Street. Turn into York Street and keep driving straight up until you find a huge traffic circle. Turn left at the traffic circle and keep travelling straight over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass. About 7km after the pass look out for the Oudtshoorn turn-off on your left. Carry on straight until you reach Oudtshoorn. Upon entering Oudtshoorn keep driving straight down the main street, exiting Oudtshoorn and going past the Cango Wildlife Ranch en-route to the famous Cango Caves. You will find the Stonebreaker Country Lodge 15km out of town on your right hand side opposite De Oude Meul Lodge and Restaurant. From the Route 62 As entering Oudtshoorn turn left into Baron van Rheede Street en-route to the Cango Caves. You will find the Stonebreaker Country Lodge 15km out of town on your right hand side opposite De Oude Meul Lodge and Restaurant. From Port Elizabeth (3 hours) Travelling from Port Elizabeth down the Langkloof Valley past Uniondale, keep driving straight until you find the Oudtshoorn turn-off on your right. Carry on straight until you reach Oudtshoorn. Upon entering Oudtshoorn keep driving straight down the main street, exiting Oudtshoorn and going past the Cango Wildlife Ranch en-route to the famous Cango Caves. You will find the Stonebreaker Country Lodge 15km out of town on your right hand side opposite De Oude Meul Lodge and Restaurant. |
