| DESCRIPTION: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Renovated, but still maintain a rustic "Nagmaal" feel. Spekboom Cottages occupy most of the houses on Rand Street, each one is unique and individual. The accommodation varies between one and two bedrooms, all the rooms are en-suite. Most of them have a fully equipped kitchen, lounge / dining areas, fireplaces, outside patios with braai (barbecue) facilities. Two of the cottages also have outside baths and showers to bathe under the magnificent Klein Karoo night skies. Cottage No. 11 has its own small plunge pool with glorious views of the Swartberg Mountains. Each cottage has its own parking bay and is very safe and secure. There is a lovely swimming pool in a small but pretty garden with a vista of the Swartberg Mountains. Spekboom also incorporates the "Klein Karoo Kitchen" which is an independently run restaurant and country pub, which serves a small but enticing menu which varies daily using, as far as possible, local fresh produce. This is where you are served breakfast if you choose the B&B option. The restaurant has a lovely outside patio which has a beautiful view of the Calitzdorp. The pub is open daily and will gladly put any sports onto the big screen for your viewing. Everything in Calitzdorp is within walking distance, which includes all the wine cellars which are a must to visit, especially for Port tasting, as Calitzdorp is renowned as the "Port Capital" of South Africa. Come for a night or stay a week, there is much to do and see. Make us your base to visit Oudtshoorn, the Sewe Weeks Poort, Swartberg Pass, Gamka Nature Reserve. Bring your mountain bikes as there are some great trails to follow. Come and visit this gem of the Klein Karoo on Route 62. |
