Shumba Valley Adventure Farm offers a holiday filled with variety and old fashioned hospitality. This is home away from home for the whole family.
Our rooms in the bed and breakfast are comfortable and nicely furnished. All the rooms provide our visitors with their own tea and coffee facilities, a booklet listing all activities on and around the farm, heaters and loads of blankets are provided for those cold winter nights! A roaring fire is lit in the lounge and dining room in winter. A spacious verandah stretches the length of the main house providing a perfect spot to bird watch, read or suntan.
The gardens are well laid out, bird friendly and a pleasure to be in, 360 degree views of the surrounding Maluti and Rooiberg mountains are breathtaking. Breakfast in the morning is served the way a true farmhouse breakfast should be served! Pots of filter coffee, fruits and cereals, a large cooked breakfast with lots of toast, homemade jams and marmalades! Dinner is a two course country cooked delight, guaranteed to make you come back for more!
Fabulous camping and caravanning facilities for 80 people. Our lovely, newly built ablution block is the best in the Eastern Free State, with stunning views across the valley looking into the magnificant Maluti Mountain Range. The sites have power points and most of them have braai's. Some of the lower sites in the Bush Camp are tucked away in the trees for absolute privacy and spectacular quiet! The Top Camp offers lawned camping for 20 people with a small but quaint multi-sex ablution with a great "farmie" feel. The Top Camp is best used for one or two night stop overs.
Our delightful self catering cottages offer great comfort for family holidays. Well equipped, very comfortable, with stunning views, lovely verandahs and lots of space for the kids. Built-in braai facilities off the verandahs. For the cold winter nights each unit has a lovely fireplace.
At Shumba Valley Adventure Farm we want to make your stay memorable. It is our pleasure to thoroughly spoil you! Whatever your activity may be, we make sure that you go to places the average tourist never gets a chance to see! Special little waterfalls, exciting back roads with lots of interest, gorgeous photographic spots off the beaten track, 4x4 and quad trails that are challenging and exciting, horse riding trails and safaris that are truly magnificant, skiing trips into Lesotho, rural village walks in Lesotho (also exclusive to Shumba Valley), excellent fishing in the river, and lots more!
Last but not least we offer a spectacular Equine Academy of learning. An 8 month course on Horsemasterhip is offered on an international standard, and it's growing! |
