From Johannesburg follow the N1 and take the Pretoria / Pietersburg off-ramp and then travel to Pietersburg. At the Kranskop toll gate take left hand gate option (Modimolle / Marble Hall). Travel through Modimolle (Nylstroom) and drive 60km to Vaalwater. Go straight through Vaalwater and drive approximately for 24km from Vaalwater. On the left hand side you will see the Welgevonden main gate.
Carry on past the main gate for approximately 22km until you come to Schoongelegen Road which is a gravel road. Turn left into Schoongelegen Road and carry on for about 17km until you reach Welgevonden west gate on your left hand side. As no private vehicles are allowed in the Welgevonden Game Reserve guests driving themselves are required to park their cars at the western gate. Safe covered parking is provided at the gate on the inside of the reserve.
At the western gate the guests are welcomed by our rangers at regular pick up times to be transferred to the lodge (approximately 35 minutes drive). When travelling from overseas, kindly advise the lodge management or your travel advisor in advance should you require a transfer outside the regular times as mentioned. |
