Ruxmian Lodge

Strand was founded in 1714 as a fishing town by the Cape Malay slaves. It has evolved during the last 3 decades into a vibrant part of the Helderberg basin, with a healthy mixture of retirees, families, business people and a seasonal inflow of holiday goers flocking to one of South Africa's prime seaside destinations.

The lodge offers 4 tastefully furnished rooms with 3 bathrooms, one en-suite bedroom and a one bedroom flat. Air-conditioning is available in each of the rooms. The Ruxmian Lodge has a relaxed lounge, loft / TV room with satellite TV (DSTV), a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, undercover entertainment and braai (barbecue) area, and safe secure parking. Catering services are available on request. New additions to the lodge include 2 honesty bars, 1 at the entertainment area and 1 in the lounge at the cosy fireplace. Self catering amenities are also available for the guests.

Ruxmian Lodge is centrally situated in the Strand on the shores of False Bay. It is situated a mere 48km from Cape Town and only 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. We are surrounded by the stunning Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountain Range. The Strand has a pristine 4km safe beach with beautiful white sandy shores. The coast between the Lourens River mouth up to Rooi Els is very popular with beach fisherman and rock anglers, whilst organised and social diving activities beckon the more adventurous. Various activities available in the surrounding area include visiting the Helderberg Nature Reserve, hiking trails, wine routes, swimming, surfing, kite surfing, and fishing on shore and off shore. Four golf clubs, restaurants, scenic routes, and shopping malls are all within easy reach of the lodge.
