Information about Rijk's Country House

Nestled in the beautiful Tulbagh valley, Rijk's Country House is situated on the eminent Rijk's Wine farm. With 12 Luxury rooms and three 2 bedroomed family suites - each with views of the majestic Witzenberg and Winterhoek mountains - it offers spacious accommodation in a peaceful country setting.

Activities can be as leisurely as you like, swimming in or relaxing by the pool, a gentle game of boules, walking among the hundreds of roses or settling down with a book by the fire in the lounge. But there are also opportunities for more strenuous fun such as hiking, fishing, bird watching, horse riding or mountain biking and even, in summer, helping to harvest grapes by night.

And Tulbagh itself, with its incomparable wealth of Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture - Church Street alone has 32 National Monuments - and is a fascinating town to explore. Wine tasting, appropriately enough, is also on Rijk's Country House's list of things to do, head for the Polo Wine Bar if you wish to sample or purchase wines from the farm. When it comes to meals, you can enjoy international and traditional South African cuisine in the intimate restaurant, Que Sera, or the private dining room Mon Ami, or you can dine alfresco on the Iceberg Terrace.

Our conferencing facility can accommodate up to 60 people, school room style, and 24 board room style. Rijk's Country House is also the ideal wedding venue and offers the perfect start to a new life. An all encompassing luxurious experience, Rijk's Country House is sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and like you have discovered a little piece of paradise.
