Visitors will find the rural village of Tulbagh as bustling and cosmopolitan as in the days of Het Land van Waveren when it was frequented by pioneers, hunters and indigenous peoples of every culture and creed. Today our valley has become a sought after weekend breakaway and wedding destination with its natural beauty and scenery a true heaven for bird watching, horse riding, hiking, mountain biking including the world famous Cape Epic, wild flowers and scenic drives.
Accommodation in and around Tulbagh includes self catering, B&B facilities in the surrounding mountains on working fruit, olive and wine estates and in the village itself a range of lodgings clustered around the historic Church Street with its wealth of Cape Dutch architecture restored to its former glory after the devastating earthquake that struck the village in 1969.
Our wine route has never been more exiting proven by the awards being earned by winemakers in the valley. Tulbagh plays host to a number of events every year such as Night harvesting dinners early in the year and in June the town becomes a winter wonderland for all when it invites its visitors to celebrate Christmas in Winter in September we showcase the Tulbagh Horse and Local Wild Flower Show during the Agricultural show week, the Christmas Market in November and December sipping bubbly at Summer Elegance.
