Information about Madrid Farm Cottages
 
We have three self catering cottages in the garden on the farm "Madrid", which has been in the Mousley family for 134 years. The cottages are close enough to the homestead to be very safe but still private. Also in the garden is a Banksia rose which was planted soon after the first George Bennett Mousley arrived to take up residence about 132 years ago.

"Sunrise" and "Sunshine" Cottages are stone buildings with two double bedrooms and two bathrooms (one shower, one bath). "Sunrise" sleeps two extra on pullout beds. "Sunset" Cottage has one double bedroom and one bathroom with a bath. All the cottages have open-plan living areas with fully equipped kitchens, (with stove, microwave & fridge, kettle, toaster, dishcloths, dishwashing liquid & scourer included) and open fireplaces as well as private braai (barbecue) areas with views of the garden and mountains. Linen is provided as well as extra blankets, electric blankets and heaters / fans. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and creamer are provided on arrival.

The cottages are serviced, and in winter the first bag of wood each day is provided free of charge. Extra wood is available at R30 per bag, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

Directions
 
Location   On the R712, Clarens, Free State

Turn off the N3, Durban road about 5km outside Bethlehem onto the R711 to Clarens. Continue on this road passed Clarens where it becomes the R712 through Golden Gate. About 9km from Clarens take the Sunnyside turn-off to the right. This is a dirt road but only 3km long. From here it is marked all the way and ends at the farm.
