Yzerfontein hosts the nearly extinct oyster catcher, a beautiful black bird with red feet and beak. The whales and dolphins (seasonal) will also surprise one often with their maneuvers and can be watched from the comfort of your bed. The walking trail that passes in front of the house along the sea, will introduce you to fynbos and flowers, the fishing harbour and the different angling spots, like High Bank, Freddy's Rock and Deurspring. Explore the coast line along white sandy beaches or take a boat trip to Dassen Island or explore the abundant sea life in the shallow pools. In the evenings the moonlight is just a little more breathtaking, because we are fortunate not to have any street lights. |
