"Climb above the clouds, walk with the Rhino - game farm in the mountains". For a magical African experience, try Leshiba Wilderness private game reserve, which stretches along the top of the western Soutpansberg Mountains. Located in mountainous terrain, the reserve is often lost in a morning mist - the high moisture has resulted in rich and varied vegetation, from open plains to natural bushveld and high canopy forest. There are more than 380 species of trees and a wide variety of birds, including black eagles, purple crested and Knysna and purple crested Turacos and the rare Narina Trogon. The larger game includes white rhino, leopard, giraffe, zebra, brown hyena and numerous species of antelope.
Game drives are available, but the best way to experience all the reserve has to offer, is on foot. There are 12 marked trails from 2 to 7 hours walking time, with paths meandering through lush bush, over plains and down spectacular gorges, where in summer you can swim in clear rock pools. Enjoy misty mornings and starry nights. Visit Bushmen caves with ancient rock art and watch black eagles soar.
There are 2 exclusive Camps at Leshiba and an Indigenous Knowledge Centre. Hamasha Camp, the 2 luxury suites and the IKC are fully equipped for self-catering and full board is offered from The Venda Village Lodge. The Village was created together with the internationally acclaimed Venda artists, Noria Mabasa and Thomas Kubayi. It has 5 thatched huts with en-suite bathrooms (showers), lounge with fireplace, thatched lapa, deck with fire pit and swimming pool. There is a luxury outdoor bathroom with sculptured figureheads and a view over the plains below. There are two luxury suites, Mwedzi and Duvha, offering everything that you may desire, either DBB or self-catering. Hamasha Bush Camp offers four en-suite bedrooms with indoor and outdoor showers (sleeps 8). It has a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and fireplace for cosy evenings with French doors opening out onto a braai (barbecue) area. Guests can experience the magnificent views of the beautiful gorge. Secluded and magical! The IKC can be used for small workshops and conferences and sleeps up to 28 sharing.
