Guest House / Lodge | Game Lodge
Located in Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Western Cape, South Africa
Nestled at the foot of the towering warm Waterberg Mountains in the heart of the Little Karoo, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve celebrates the spirit of the San people who once roamed this distinctive area. Sanbona and the spirit of the San people welcome you. More than 54 000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous flora and fauna, rock formations and rock art make this a destination not to be missed.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is home to free ranging white lions and big game and is situated approximately 3 hours from Cape Town between Montague and Barrydale. One of the true joys of Sanbona is the freedom to do nothing at all in absolute luxury, but for those who choose to venture beyond the comfort of the lodge, a world of new experiences awaits. Allow Sanbona's qualified rangers to lead you in comfortable Land Rovers, or on foot through the bush to spot a wide range of plants and animals. Sunrise and sunset trails lead to secluded rock pools and spectacular examples of San art. Watch the birds of prey soar in the wide blue African sky.

Accommodation is offered in two separate lodges at Sanbona, one is Khanni Lodge and Tilney Manor. Sanbona's second lodge, Khanni, is named after the San word for Eland. Tucked away in a secluded valley overlooking a natural watering hole, Khanni Lodge is an idyllic Klein Karoo summer house, with wrap around verandas, high lime-washed ceilings and exposed beams providing feeling of cool, airy space. From the veranda and rim-flow swimming pool guests can watch animals visiting the watering hole to drink, and the private verandas of the lodge’s four spacious suits offer exquisite views of the surrounding landscape. Khanni Lodge provides guests with an enchanting choice of settings in which to relax, from the airy dining room and cosy lounge with its fireplace, to the outdoor dining patio and braai (barbecue) facilities.
