Karoo Cottage

Karoo Cottage is a delightful and luxurious little guest house tucked beneath a giant pine tree in the heart of Loxton, a pretty Karoo village. It's fully equipped for self catering, or visitors are welcome on a B&B, or DB&B basis (meals by prior arrangement). The cottage has one large room, separate bathroom with shower, and separate kitchen. There's a double and single bed, and arrangements can be made to accommodate additional children. In winter, we provide electric blankets and heaters; and in summer, fans, air-conditioning and a mosquito screen door allow cooling breezes. A table and chairs are set outdoors for those wishing to catch the sunset or enjoy our incredible night skies. Braai (barbecue) facilities and braai packs are available. Parking is in a shadecloth carport behind a lockable gate.

Loxton is a crime-free hamlet surrounded by vast plains. Our streets are lined with trees, some of which are over 100 years, and the town turns into a fairytale picture of white blossoms in spring. We still enjoy the traditional leiwater (flood irrigation) system, whereby water from the town's fountain bubbles along channels into residents' gardens; and if you spend a while you may see the odd donkey cart clip-clop past the cottage. Loxton is tiny and has few facilities, so the owners' request that you arrange meals in advance. These are served at the 4-seater table in the cottage. If self catering, it's advisable to bring supplies from a larger centre.

We're conveniently situated en-route to Namaqualand, the West Coast, and if you're coming from up north, the Cape. We offer tranquillity in a pollution-and-stress-free environment. Come and experience real peace of mind!
