Big Five game viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River and only 2km from the Addo Elephant National Park. Easily reached from the N2, it is in the perfect spot for game, coastal or river activities.
Extensive lawns stretch down to the Happy Jackal jetty while unspoilt, natural bush is the habitat of kudu on the opposite banks. Port Elizabeth and its airport is only half an hour away and in the opposite direction the historic, university town of Grahamstown would take the traveller a mere 45 minutes.
We offer a choice of 6 luxurious en-suite rooms, 5 of which enjoy stunning river views. Guests may choose from ground floor rooms opening onto private patios and the river bank or impressively large thatched upstairs rooms, one of which has its own thatched deck. 2 self-catering units for those with children are also available with all the amenities of the lodge and more. Breakfasts cater to all tastes and include both a full English and Health breakfast. Home-made jams and preserves, pancakes, muffins and bread freshly baked each morning are to be found on the table. Packed lunches, picnic baskets and evening meals are by arrangement. Evening meals are three course, candlelit, personally prepared suppers. Good wine, good food, good company!
