Franshoek Mountain Lodge lies in a secluded valley in the heart of the cherry growing district of the Eastern Free State, where, in season, you can pick you own cherries.

With only ten rooms, it is an intimate, relaxed, family friendly lodge with plenty to do for both adults and children. The heart of the lodge is a charming, thatched sandstone building where guests can relax at the bar or enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our Thai chef. In cooler weather, a roaring log fire creates the perfect atmosphere for an evening of games or music, and guests who start off as strangers end up leaving as enduring friends!

The bedrooms are situated in the old farmhouse which is attached to the lodge and each has it's own access to our beautiful gardens. The lodge has a spectacular sandstone edged swimming pool, where lunches are served in summer. For those that wish to enjoy peace and quiet, there are many secret hideaways, either at the river's edge, an artist's paradise, or in our well stocked library. Being situated on the boundary of a magnificent game farm - one can walk or take a guided tour to watch the rhino being fed.
