Fountain Baths is perfectly situated within walking distance of the main town, next to the Museum. The garden extends to the very foot of the mountains where some of the oldest rock formations in the world can be seen. Lush vegatation make this a birder's paradise. Guests have spotted rare species like the Knysna Turaco, Narina Trogan and Square-tailed Dongo from their verandas. Vervet Monkeys, Bush Babies and Porquipine are regular visitors to the gardens.
Accomodation is either B&B or self catering, all rooms have bath / shower en-suite. Rooms are decorated for style and comfort and all cattages have their own entrance into the gardens. Horse riding, 4x4 trails, paragliding and guided tours for birders are all available. The town has a Heritage walk, hiking trails and Gold mine tours and Gold panning are near by. The National Kruger Park is only 70km away, the Swazi border over the mountains is 40km and Kaapsche Hoop is 35km. |
