Essenwood House offers both the corporate or leisure guest all the comforts of a magnificent Edwardian private home. Set in a tropical garden, peace and quiet yet minutes away from the city, shopping malls, restaurants, Convention centre, sports stadiums and the beautiful sandy beaches.

The guest house has seven luxurious en-suite bedrooms most facing both the city and the Indian Ocean. The establishment has a large sparkling swimming pool with safe secure parking in the grounds.

All rooms are air-conditioned, and they have individual private telephones, satellite TV, alarm clock radios,Wi-Fi in all rooms, fully stocked bar fridges, tea and coffee making facilities and fresh flowers, fruit and daily newspapers. Three suites have their own private verandahs and entrances. Essenwood House is the ideal base for visits to game reserves, the Drakensberg Mountains, and all that KwaZulu-Natal has to offer.

From Durban (City Centre)

Take Samora Machel St. and head north for 2.3km. Keep in the left lane and glide off at Sandile Thusi (M17). Head up Sandlile Thusi Road for 2.3km (Road name changes to Springfield Road, same road) and continue up hill until you reach Stephen Dlamini Road. Turn left and drive for 200m, and on left hand side is Essenwood House situated at No. 630. Press the bell, then the gates will open.

From Pietermaritzburg / Johannesburg (N3)

Head towards Durban city centre, the sign reads Exit 3 Berea/Ridge Road. Get into the left hand lane and glide off the highway. At the traffic lights at top of hill about 150m, after gliding off carry straight across Peter Mokaba Road in left hand lane. At the next set of lights turn left into Stephen Dlamini Road. Travel for 2.4km along this road,, after the 6th set of traffic lights, you will find Essenwood House situated at No. 630 on right hand side. Press the bell, and the gates will open.

From South Coast (N2)

Head for Durban city centre on M4 highway and travel for 12km after passing) the old airport. Glide off at Exit 2 onto Che Guevara Road. Please note that Exit 2 is shortly after Exit 3, so get into left hand lane after passing Exit 3. Glide off left into Che Guevara Road and head up for 1.8km. Turn right into Lina Arendse Road at the traffic lights. Cross the freeway, and then name of the road changes to Stephen Dlamini Road. (same road). After the 6th set of traffic lights, you will find Essenwood House situated at No. 630 on right hand side. Press the bell, and the gates will open.

From King Shaka International Airport and North Coast via N2 Outer Ring Road

Approaching the N3 (Exit 165) interchange keep in the left hand lane and glide off to the left. Head for Durban and the city and keep to the left hand lane until Exit 3 Berea, Ridge Road. Get into the left hand lane and glide off the highway. At the traffic lights at top of hill about 150m, after gliding off carry straight across Peter Mokaba Road. At the next set of traffic lights turn left into Stephen Dlamini Road. Travel for 2.4km, after the 6th set of traffic lights you will find Essenwood House situated at No. 630 on right hand side. Press the bell, and the gates will open.

Alternate Route From Airport

After leaving the airport travel towards Durban on N2. take Exit 190 Sign: M4 Umdhloti,Verulam.After 500m turn right onto M4 Umthlanga. Pass Umthlanga on your left and continue to first set of traffic lights. 21.7kms from Umdloti turnoff. Turn right at lights into Sandile Thusi Road M17, travel 2.5kms up hill until reach Stephen Dlamini Road, Turn left and 500m Essenwood House, No.630 on left. Distance 35kms.
