| DESCRIPTION: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Standerton is a small charming town in the Mpumalanga Highveld en-route between Johannesburg and Durban. Shortly after being restored to its original beauty, Die Kliphuis became a landmark in Standerton. Travelers from all over the world have experienced its gracious surroundings, tranquility and living the past in this historical sandstone homestead. For over a year, Die Kliphuis was the subject of a loving restoration by craftsmen, stonemasons, friends and family. Sixteen comfortable, spacious bedrooms have en-suite Victorian bathrooms, some with a private lounge. Each bedroom, decorated with antique furniture, has a unique sense of style and design, a timeless quality. Rooms are equipped with television (M-Net), hairdryers, tea tray, heaters, electric blankets and an antique fireplace. All rooms have separate entrances. There are 3 different dining areas. The main dining room can seat 50 guests and is air-conditioned to assure comfort in any conditions. The private dining room can seat 20 guests and is ideal for smaller, more intimate dinners. The 3rd dining area can seat 10 guest, has a fireplace and is nice and cosy for smaller functions. Scotty's Pub is located in the main dining area, and opens onto the side veranda. It has been named after the two resident Scottish terriers, Chuku and Angel. It has an extensive variety of South African wines, local beers and spirits. The gift shop is always very busy. It has a wide variety of gifts for every occasion, from weddings to christenings. |
