Clifton Country House

Clifton Country House is a bed and breakfast establishment with a "lodge-like" feel, situated in Shongweni / Assagay. Only 20 minutes from Durban, Pietermaritzburg and the Durban International Airport, it is convenient for both tourists and business people, yet offers tranquil country living. Yours hosts Patsie and Dave, offer double en-suite and private bedrooms, and self catering is available in a separate cottage (sleeping 4 - 7 people).

Start your day with a wholesome country breakfast. Sit on the terrace and enjoy the view of misty krantzes, watch the birds, or take a walk down to the dam. Small farm animals roam around the beautiful indigenous gardens enchacing the welcoming country atmosphere. Ensure to pack your binoculars as the farm boasts with birdlife and farm animals.

There are many restaurants and coffee shops to choose from in nearby Hillcrest, or one can take in a show at the Heritage Supper Theatre. We are on the "1000 Hills Experience Route" - featuring local arts and crafts, crocodile and snake parks, Zulu dancing, hiking at Kloof Falls, visiting Ushaka Marine World at the beachfront where you can watch dolphin and seal shows, eating at restaurants on board a ship, swim with the sharks, or just relax on the beach. We are also situated close to the Shongweni Dam and Wildlife Reserve which offers hikes and fishing.
