The Blue Dolphin concept is simple, natural and refreshing. Four very comfortable en-suite rooms, with views of the sea, a veranda with a day-bed for lying on and listening to the surf, a sandy beach that stretches from the house. The house is open, wooden, breezy, with whites and blues dominating in tune with the beach and sea. All you have to do is lazily watch out for dolphins and whales, kick the sand along the strand, eat your breakfast, which is enormous, chill those nerves, and untie those muscles.
Breakfast is served on the veranda overlooking the beach. A full English breakfast is served with home made preserves, freshly baked bread, fresh fruits and the finest quality bacon, sausages, meats and free range eggs. Flower season is end of August beginning September. The dune fynbos blooms impressively and a rash of tiny brightly-coloured flowers emerge like magic from the very sand itself. Whales appear from time to time while you have your breakfast, and the dolphins try and steal the show.
The bedrooms are well-kitted out with heated towel rails, satellite television, mohair blankets, great beds and linen. Next to the bed and breakfast is the self catering cottage, Baby Dolphin. It has two en-suite bathrooms, a giant fireplace, a wide sea-facing veranda and a track straight to the beach. A braai (barbecue) on the front veranda, overlooking the beach gives you the opportunity of spotting whales while you are braaiing. |
