Are you on your way to Cape Town, the West Coast or the Kgalagadi? Then take a halfway break at "Die Blou Nartjie Guest House and Restaurant" in Calvinia. We are situated 420km from Cape Town and 420km from Upington.
Die Blou Nartjie is the oldest building in Calvinia (circa 1820). The walls are 600 to 900mm thick and have ceilings of five meters high. It was built in Neo Gothic style and has been beautifully restored. The establishment has a restaurant which is fully licensed and has an a' la carte menu which includes traditional foods like "bobotie" and lamb pie. Reservations are compulsory. Breakfast is also served here in the mornings. Die Blou Nartjie Guest House comprises of:
- 3 x family rooms (One with queen size bed and a double bed pull out couch. The second one with twin single beds and a double bed pull out couch. They have en-suite bathrooms with shower in bath)
- 1 x double rooms with queen size bed and en suite shower
- 4 x twin rooms (2 x single beds, ensuite shower and toilet)
- 1 x double room (With own bathroom, not en-suite for tour guides)
All rooms except the tour guide room have air-conditioning and 10 channel DSTV. The establishment is built on a 16000 sq metre plot and there is more than enough safe parking space. |
