Briar Ghyll is a unique family home, situated within 3km of the Pietermaritzburg City Hall. This grand Victorian homestead was built in 1865 by Joseph and Jane Henderson and is still owned and run with warm hospitality and comfort by the original family. Converted into a lodge in 1997 by Clive and Biddy, Briar Ghyll celebrates its 10 year anniversary in 2007 as one of South Africa's most attractive and conveniently situated lodges and, is now run by Guy and Leigh Henderson.
The lodge has eight elegantly appointed and spacious rooms, three of which are self contained cottages. Breakfast is served either in the dining room or in the beautiful garden. Guests have the use of the spacious lounge and courtesy bar. Supper is by prior arrangement and is served in the dining room or in the comfort of your own room.
We can arrange to meet you at the local airport or bus depot, organise your car hire, and reserve your dinner bookings at a wide range of local restaurants situated in the area. |
