Experience stylish country living on a historic Cape Dutch estate built 1802, centrally situated in the historic heart of Swellendam. The guest house is owner managed, offering superb hospitality with great attention to detail, focusing on quality, comfort and style. There are 3 luxury cottages (1 double), 2 garden suites and 1 family unit with classic contemporize decor, set in 1.5 hectares of luxuriant gardens with much indigenous flora and an abundance of birdlife. The spacious guest areas in and around the historic house, is where one can relax and enjoy a drink in the lounge, on the patios or on the veranda overlooking the gardens. A memorable breakfast is given under the vines in summer and in front of the log fire in winter. Swellendam is the jewel of the Overberg and it is the 3rd oldest settlement in South Africa situated halfway between Cape Town and the start of the Garden Route. Swellendam is renowned for its architecture, fascinating history, potters and great outdoor life such as horse riding, hiking, and canoeing. The area offers a variety of scenic routes which includes De Hope Nature Reserve for whale watching and its pristine beaches, the Tradouw pass to Barrydale, and the local wine route with some outstanding award winning wines. There is a well maintained 9 hole golf course nearby with a picturesque setting and fantastic views over the Langeberg Mountains. |

| From Cape Town Take the first West entrance into Swellendam. Enter into Swellendam via the main street which is called Voortrek Street. Drive along the main street, past all the shops (3km), and then pass the famous Dutch Reformed Church on your left hand side. Drive for another 100m further until the road splits into two. Take the left fork for and drive 30m and then left into Human Street. This is a dead end street. Drive to the top and you will find parking on your left hand side at No. 3. From George Take the East entrance as you enter into Swellendam via the first section of the main street called Swellengrebel Street. The first building on your left is the Drostdy museum. Approximately 500m down the road, on your left there will be a tea garden with the name "La Belle Alliance". Travel over the small bridge, directly after the bridge turn right, then left and right again into Human Street. These 3 turns are all within approximately 30m of each other. You will see the sign of Augusta de Mist at the top of this dead end street. Turn left into the parking area. |
