Peacefully set in tall trees in Blanco, George, Ambleside Country House has one of the most tranquil surrounds in the Garden Route. The Guest House has 14 bedrooms, all en-suite and many with walk-in showers. Situated in large grounds on a hill coated with lush green trees, it looks out toward the George airport and the ocean beyond, whilst the re-known Fancourt Golf Estate languishes below just 2kms away. Dominating the surrounds are the ever present Outeniqua Mountains. It is calming and carefree away from any noise.

Ambleside is a friendly, warm and highly hospitable 4 star guest house offering comfortable rooms, the owner's personal putting green with a spectacular view of the mountain, easy access to a wide range of outstanding golf courses. It is the a perfect base situated in the centre of the Garden Route which offers beautiful beaches, boating, hiking, whale watching, animal sanctuaries and of course golf, golf and yes, more golf!

A full English breakfast and buffet is served in the lovely dining room and, on request, can be served on your sundeck. Lunches can be ordered at reception, and drinks are available as required. Dinner can be arranged with a fine selection of excellent restaurants no more than 10 minutes away in George.

From Oudtshoorn / Outeniqua Pass (N9, N12)

Entering George, turn right at first traffic light, into Witfontein Road. Travel for 2km, the road becomes Montagu Street, then take your first right into Maitland Street. The guest house is situated at the top of hill on right hand side.

From Knysna / Wilderness

Take the right lane off N2 highway into George. Driving along Courtenay Street keep straight and the road becomes Davidson Road until you reach a traffic circle. Turn right past the George Sports Club, then you will see the golf club on your left hand side. Travel for 1km and then turn left into Witfontein (you will see the signs to Blanco, and Fancourt). Drive for 2km, then travel around a left bend and turn right into Maitland Street. The guest house is situated at top of hill on the right hand side.

From Mossel Bay, Cape Town (N2)

Take the turn-off to George Airport and then turn left at the stop street. Travel left around the airport site and buildings to the stop street. At the crossroad, go straight across the R404. After driving for 5 minutes enter the town area and pass Fancourt Golf Estate. Then turn left into Maitland Street. The guest house is situated at the top of the hill on the right hand side.
