Our guest house is situated halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town on the N1 in the little Karoo town of Hanover. In fact we are the most central town in South Africa and as such Hanover is the perfect place to break your journey.
The guest house boasts four houses with 6 main-en suite rooms, all neatly and comfortably furnished with a touch of "Karoo Madness". For the hungry we have a small restaurant and have a licensed bar.
Hanover is a very small, but interesting town with many examples of architecture dating from the mid to late 1800's. There is a short walk to the top of Trappieskop from where there is a 360 degree view of the magnificent Karoo landscape. Late afternoon sunsets are particularly spectacular.
In summer months the Lesser Kestrel migrate to Hanover from Eastern Europe and in the early morning, and late afternoon the skies above the town are alive with these feeding birds. In winter the rooms are well heated with electric blankets on the bed and cosey fires in the pub and restaurant.
The pub has become a meeting place for many of our locals who love to meet and chat to our visitors. Heather and Dave, along with their dedicated staff, will ensure that your stay is a memorable one. |
